A COMMUNITY centre will host a fun-packed day of activities to help raise vital funds for a new roof.

The Park Farm Centre, in Carr Mill, has seen many renovation works done since its opening seven years ago.

Now it is trying to raise £20,000 to enable a much-needed new roof to be created for the centre's sports hall with event to take placer this Saturday (June 27) to raise proceeds towards the total.

Activities on the day will include stalls, rides, games organised by St Helens Council Sports Development team, a raffle with great prizes to be won – including a signed Saints shirt donated by the club, face painting, with cakes to be provided. It is also hoped the police quad bikes will be in attendance on the afternoon.

"We've been in the building for seven years," said Sue Mills, centre co-ordinator.

"It was in a bad way when we took it over, we started with nothing and now we've got a rather nice building. We have done a lot of work on the building by getting funding and volunteers.

"It has been a real community effort to get it in the state it is.

"We hope the day will raise some funds for the roof and increase awareness for the centre. We have got lots of activities going on and we have a room for hire. We'd like to get the word out that these things are on."

The fun-filled day takes place on Saturday, June 27 from 1pm to 4pm.
