A PARISH council has seen its youngest ever chairman take office.

Councillor Rob Reynolds, aged 29 is the youngest person to take the helm at Rainford Parish Council, even including its prior time as an Urban District Council after taking over from Cllr Diane Wesley.

To celebrate the occasion, Cllr Reynolds hosted an evening for family, friends, and colleagues along with residents who work tirelessly to make the village a better place to live.

Local brewers George Wright supplied a Chairman’s Ale for the event.

Cllr Reynolds used the evening to kickstart his fundraising year and with the help of local companies, Houghwood Golf Club, O2 Ormskirk, Claire and Andy Reid of Reds, George Wright Brewery and other donations, the Raffle raised over £500.

He will donate funds to support Rainford's first ever entry into the North West in Bloom competition.
