A PUB and restaurant that has undergone a £750,000 redevelopment is due to open this Friday night.

The Eccleston Arms Bar and Grill on Prescot Road is also a hotel featuring 11 en-suite bedrooms.

The transformation of a pub that had a tired appearance has been led by businessman Andy Mikhail, who is also the manager of the boxer Martin Murray.

Mr Mikhail says the investment has helped create 30 new jobs and that it has brought a buzz to the area.

Among the features of the venue, which was historically nicknamed the 'Top Nogs', is the Steve Prescott sports bar, a lounge and a restaurant.

Mr Mikhail said: "I thought the area was lacking something like this for people aged in their 30s to their 50s who want somewhere to relax with their family. It's also great to do something with such a historical building and there has been a great deal of interest in what we are doing with plenty of people pulling up in their cars and wishing us encouragement, which has been quite overwhelming really.

"I know the Eccleston Arms was traditionally known as the 'Top Nogs' but we are keen for it to be known by its new identity as the Eccleston Arms Bar and Grill."
