A MAN from St Helens is one of ten people featured in a Christmas crime campaign which has seen mug shots plastered across a huge TV screen in Liverpool city centre.

Jamie Woods, 19, is wanted for questioning by police for allegedly failing to answer police bail.

He features alongside suspected burglars and thieves who police want to speak to in connection with crimes committed across Merseyside.

Police hope that the eye-catching campaign will encourage shoppers and passers-by to contact them or Crimestoppers with any relevant information.

It comes as officers carried out a fresh wave of dawn raids across the region at targeted addresses where they suspect some of the region’s most persistent and prolific offenders live.

Chief Inspector Jenny Simms from Liverpool North Command Team said: “The eye-catching campaign was designed to encourage information from the public.

“The operation is about sending a clear message to the public that Merseyside Police will not tolerate offences like business robbery and thefts in the run-up to Christmas.

"These are not victimless crimes. Every offence committed leaves a lasting impact on victims. This could be the small business owner who has stock or takings stolen or an employee who experiences the intimidation and violence when a robber enters where they work to steal cash from the till.

"I hope that people doing their Christmas shopping will take a look at the individuals on show and let us know if they can help us trace them.

"We believe each one may have information that could help us with our ongoing investigations.”
