YOUNG library users will be treated to a host of special visits from worldwide favourite children’s book character Miffy the rabbit during the October school half term holidays.

It follows a library worker winning a national competition organised by national charity The Reading Agency and Simon & Schuster, publishers of updated translations of the classic Miffy stories.

Miffy has been a huge favourite in libraries and with children since she was created by Dick Bruna in 1955.

To celebrate her enduring appeal, Simon & Schuster has launched new editions of several of stories, with text ‘refreshed’ by poet Tony Mitton.

The winning entry came from Kathryn Boothroyd, community development manager for St Helens Council’s Library service.

Miffy will visit the following St Helens Council libraries:

• Tuesday, October 28: Moss Bank Library (10.30am) and Rainhill Library (2pm)

• Wednesday,October 29: Parr Library (10.30am) and Chester Lane Library (2.30pm)

• Thursday, October 30: Central Library (10.30am) and Newton-le-Willows Library (2pm)
