A MAN was being treated in hospital tonight after he was led from a house fire by a police community support officer.
The man had to be given oxygen by fire crews at the scene on Chancery Lane, Parr after smoke engulfed the living room.
Paramedics took him to hospital for further checks.
The ground floor living room was severely damaged by fire and the remainder of the property was severely damaged by smoke, said a Mersey Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson.
Fire crews from St Helens, Newton-le-Willows and Eccleston Fire Stations and the services Incident Management Team attended following the fire shortly after 6pm.
Home Fire safety checks were carried out on the adjacent properties.
