St Helens Star: Meet Rick Astley at this Saturday's concert at Haydock Park Meet Rick Astley at this Saturday's concert at Haydock Park

RICK Astley returns to Haydock Park this Saturday (June 21) for the ‘Here and Now’ tour and your Star has two tickets to give away to meet and greet the Newton-le-Willows singer.

He will be performing alongside other stars from the 80s including T’Pau, The Christians and Curiosity Killed the Cat.

The tickets will allow you to watch the racing earlier in the day, enjoy the concert then get exclusive access backstage to meet the artists.

In a recent interview with the Star, Rick said he was looking forward to playing his home town: “There is an element of nervousness playing that close to where I’m from.

“There are certain gigs when I don’t know a soul and in a way that’s quite nice.

“But on the other side it’s nice on your own patch when people come along and you can say hello. I could be on stage and look into the crowd and think that’s what’s her name?”

Rick also explained the appeal of shows like ‘Here and Now’: “There’s definitely a love for the 80s but I can see the 90s coming soon. Rave will also make a comeback.

“But I think we all want to relive our youth. I do on stage. I’m aware that I’m 48. I’m not fooling myself.

“To some degree through the songs is an element of time travel and I’ve never thought that was a bad thing.”

Rick is one of a number of stars to perform at Haydock Park this summer.

Wet Wet Wet will appear on Saturday, July 19, Jessie J on Friday, August 8 and Sir Tom Jones on Saturday, August 9.
