TWO men were arrested on suspicion of assault following reports a man suffered a head injury in the early hours of Sunday (May 4).
Police were called by the ambulance service to Oxley Street in Sutton shortly after midnight.
A 20-year-old man, of no fixed address, was later arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and a 26-year-old from St Helens was arrested on suspicion of wounding and inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent.
Both were taken to police stations for questioning and have since been released on bail pending further investigations.
The victim was taken to Warrington Hospital but discharged himself.
A cordon was erected outside a house while officers examined the scene.
