SKILLS she learned while studying at St Helens College helped archaeologist Kimberly Brown change careers and land a top catering post.
Cambridge University graduate Kimberly is passionate about cookery and decided to enrol on the college’s Professional Cookery course after moving from Gibraltar where she worked as an archaeologist.
She enrolled onto the college’s Level 2 course which is delivered by professional chefs teaching new techniques and skills giving students the best opportunity to launch a career in catering.
Thirty-year-old Kimberly said: “The College enabled me to get the qualifications and experience necessary to succeed within the industry. I gained the skills required to secure employment and to help further my chances I enrolled onto the college’s Level 3 Professional Cookery course on completion of my Level 2.”
Kimberley, who reached the semi-finals in the prestigious Roux Scholarship contest for the UK’s top chefs, was encouraged by her tutors to apply for the vacant post of kitchen manager at Kings Leadership Academy in Warrington.
A delighted Kimberly said: “My course gave me the confidence, experience and knowledge to secure the job. The role involves providing students with nutritional meals made from fresh ingredients on a daily basis. I am really enjoying it.
“I couldn’t thank the college enough, the tutors were amazing and the experience at the college’s restaurant was priceless.”
