WHEN Peter Cotton was a lad he regularly took a tumble from trees he had climbed.
But despite all the bumps and bruises he never lost his head for heights – something he’s about to prove by performing the world’s highest bungee jump.
The 62-year-old Merseytravel security guard, who was in the forces for seven years, will plunge the stomach-churning 764 feet off China’s Macau Tower for charity.
“Everyone knows me,” he told the Star.
“I suppose some people call me a bit of a character. I fly out on March 3 and will do the jump on the 17th for Alder Hey Hospital.
“I know there has been re-building work carried out there so I thought it would be nice to help. When I was a young man I was always falling out of trees.
“They always took care of me when I was a kid – too many times. I have done crazy things before including a bungee jump for Cancer Research and testicular cancer charities, so I have an idea what awaits me.”
The father-of-three, who lives in Grange Park, said his children are very supportive: He added: “They said go for it. When I come back I will also be looking to do a skydive with a friend, but that will just be for fun.
“I have lived a varied life but I’m a human being after all with a little madness to make me do something like this.”
Pete has already raised more than £600 thanks to collections including Hippodrome Bingo and help from his generous pals at St Helens bus station.
