A GROUP dedicated to putting the pride back into their community has pencilled in a number of important dates for the forthcoming year.

Newton and Earlestown Community Group are always on the lookout for new members and meet on the first Thursday of the month at Newton Community Fire Station on Borron Road at 7pm.

This year’s events include:

• Litter picking in local parks from February to November. Watch out for local posters for details.

  • Coffee Morning in All Saints Church Hall – Wednesday April 2 from 10-1pm • Easter Egg-spedition at Mesnes Park – Sunday April 27 from 2pm.

• Willow Park Rural Craft Show hosted by the Park Rangers, Monday 26th May 11-4pm • Hunter’s 60’s Night at Newton Social Club – Saturday June 28 from 8pm. Tickets priced at £5 and will be available at Jan’s DIY, Bridge Street Café and Newton Social Club or can be posted out by the group.

• Opening of the Remembrance Meadow in Mesnes Park – Saturday July 5 with special guests.

• Newton Town Show in Mesnes Park – Saturday August 2 between 11-5pm • Quiz night - September date to be confirmed For further details email secretary@necg.org.uk or visit necg.weebly.com
