POLICE have confirmed that £25,000 in cash was seized from a property in Knowsley Village when search warrants were executed this morning.
In total eight men and a woman have now been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply controlled drugs and conspiracy to assist in the supply of controlled drugs.
Seven search warrants were executed in Wallasey, Meols, Old Swan, Moreton, Paisley and the Midlands.
As a result of information gathered following the operation this morning searches were carried out at two further addresses - one in West Derby and the other in Meols.
The arrests included:
- Two men aged 58-years-old and 60-years old, from Meols.
- Three 50-year-old men from Old Swan, Moreton and Knowsley Village
- A 50-year-old woman from Wallasey
- A 45-year-old man from Paisley in Scotland
Two men aged 45 and 34 years, from Childwall and Wirral respectively, who were arrested in the Midlands
The arrests follow an extensive investigation by detectives from the specialist Matrix team, which is responsible for tackling serious and organised crime.
Officers have seized five kilos of heroin and half a tonne of adulterants, which are used as cutting agents for Class A drugs such as heroin and cocaine.
The street value of the five kilos of heroin seized as part of this investigation is £50,000.
The adulterant, if mixed with a Class A drug such as heroin, has the potential to yield £10million profit.
All those arrested this morning have been taken to police stations across Merseyside where they will be interviewed by detectives.
