UNWANTED bikes could bring smiles to the faces of grateful youngsters. St Helens Council Youth Service is again operating a ‘Bikes for Christmas’ appeal and renovating donated children’s bicycles which will then be given to needy families at Christmas.
“We had 30 bikes last year and this year we’re hoping to recycle more,” said a Youth Service spokesman.
The team undertakes necessary repairs and service the bikes which are donated to families who struggle to afford the luxury of Christmas presents. Unroadworthy bikes will be stripped for spares.
If you would like to donate a bike or to arrange collection call Craig Westwell on 01744 675120 or email him at craigwestwell@sthelens.gov.uk
