ST HELENS town centre is set to become a Christmas wonderland with Santa, real reindeer and a dousing of snow part of the huge helping of festive fun in store.

Dreams of a white Christmas will come true for anyone who steps inside the winter wonderland at the Hardshaw Centre.

The town centre shopping mall houses a giant snowdome and from now until Christmas Eve visitors can revel in a flurry of artificial snow and have their photographs taken in the 15 foot sphere.

St Helens Council Leader Barrie Grunewald said: “This is a spectacular addition to the Christmas offers in the town centre which I am sure everyone will enjoy.

“This year’s festive events offer a wide range of activities for all the family.”

Hardshaw Centre manager Gary Mitchell said: “We want to make this Christmas as magical as possible for our shoppers. The snow globe is perfect for families, young friendship groups, work colleagues or anyone wishing to capture the magic this festive season. The snow globe definitely has the wow factor our shoppers deserve.”

Entry will cost £8 for up to six people inclusive of photograph.

On Saturday, December 14, Santa makes a popular return when he’s due to arrive in town with his team of reindeer and elves.

You can ensure he gets your Christmas wish list by handing it to him.

A Christmas train will be in town on Saturday and Sunday, December 21 and 22 and the Visual Ministry Gospel Choir will entertain with festive songs on Saturday, December 21 in Church Square.

Motorists can enjoy free parking on December 14 and 21 at council car parks in at Chalon Way, Tontine, St. Mary's, Hardshaw Centre and Birchley Street (but not the Millenium Centre).

This will complement the free after three scheme that allows motorists free parking to motorists who arrive after 3pm at St Mary’s, Birchley Street and Chalon Way car parks.

Shops will be open until late on December 12 and between December 16 and 23.
