A PASSENGER aged in her 50s had to be pulled to safety on a spinal board following a traffic collision between two buses.
Firefighters removed one of the windows before they could free her because the bus doors had jammed.
The incident happened on Blackbrook Road, near the junction with Boardmans Lane, last night (Monday, December 3) at around 6.34pm.
The woman had lacerations to her forehead and was suffering from shock.
Her injuries are not believed to be serious.
Watch Manager Mike Costello based at Parr Stocks Fire Station said: “Firefighters stabilised one of the buses and removed a woman passenger through a window on a spine board.
“We also used a special piece of equipment called a speed board which allows casualties to be moved without compromising the position of the spine.
“She was carried to a waiting ambulance.”
The woman was taken to Whiston Hospital. There are no reports of any other injuries. Fire crews left the scene by 7.32pm.
