Hmmmm. We’re not sure how we feel about tonight’s Big Brother time bomb.

If you haven’t been watching, Big Brother is periodically dropping them on the housemates in the form of huge, unexpected twists – and tonight’s posed an interesting moral question.

Viewers had been voting apparently for the winner of this year’s series – a maverick move, given it’s only just started. It came down to a final three of Jack, Harriet and one of the other ones.

Here’s what happened.

Yes, the winner was Jack, who so far in the house has revealed he is a virgin and has a gambling problem.

But that was just the beginning.

Jack was then taken to the diary room and told he’d won a brand new £27,000 BMW. But, inevitably, there was a catch – if he claimed his prize, he would have to leave the show now, and the prize fund for the rest of the housemates would drop from £150,000 to zero.

Yes, Big Brother effectively asked a man with a gambling problem whether he wanted to take £27,000 or gamble and take a shot at £150,000.

We’re not sure you really thought that one through, BB. That didn’t look good at all.

Oh well, back to the quandary. Should he take the prize and stitch up the other housemates, or do the decent thing?

Big Brother superfans will no doubt have been thinking of Eugene from BB6.

Unlike Eugene, though, Jack, who previously won £7,000 on Deal Or No Deal, did not take the money – well, the car. It amounts to much the same thing – he can’t even drive.

It certainly played well with the viewing public.

Let’s just hope the gamble paid off.

Seriously though, Big Brother – THE MAN’S GOT A GAMBLING PROBLEM.
