SEVEN-piece dance outfit ‘Jazz It Up!’ will be adding a seasonal swing at the Philharmonic Hall, Liverpool this Christmas.

And we have three pairs of tickets for their concert to be won in a reader competition.

The popular band, who last performed at the Phil in 2007, will be serving up a festive lunchtime concert packed with classic Christmas tunes from greats such as Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole and Ella Fitzgerald.

The band’s traditional festive programme has always proved to be a hugely popular lunchtime event in the run up to Christmas with hundreds of concert-goers expected to head for the festive daytime show.

Audiences will be treated to cool yuletide music in a swing band/jazz style with tunes including Sleigh Ride, Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas, Let It Snow, Santa Claus Is Coming To Town, and The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire).

Band leader Nigel Dufty, who is also a member of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, said: “The last time the band performed at the Phil was five years ago and so we are looking forward to seeing old friends and supporters again to celebrate the start of Christmas.

“We’ve been overwhelmed by the support of those who are coming along to the concert – many are also planning to enjoy an afternoon tea after the music…what a great way to get the Christmas celebrations started!”

Double bass player Nigel will be joined by pianist Simon Emery and a line up of Jazz It Up! musicians including vocals, saxophone, trumpet, trombone and drums.

Nigel added: “The band includes musicians who have performed with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and on an international stage – and we’re really looking forward to sharing some wonderful festive tunes that will get us all in the Christmas mood.”

The lunchtime concert takes place on Thursday, December 20, at 1.05pm, in the Philharmonic Hall, Liverpool, and lasts for 45 minutes.

Tickets cost £6. For more information, or to book tickets, please ring the Philharmonic Hall Box Office on 0151 709 3789 or visit www.liverpoolphil.com
