ANOTHER week and another Glasstown guide with me Simon Trubshaw. As usual there's plenty of gigs throughout the borough this coming week. So if you're looking for some great local live music look no further as we have information to help you decide what to see.

Out in Earlestown on Friday at the Mighty Griffin inn the Lazzy Band make a welcome return to the borough after a very busy end of 2015 and start to this year.

Highly regarded by all who have seen them, they always give a 100 per cent full-on two hours plus show. It's quite hard to pin the band down to one particular genre as they play so much different material. From straight ahead rock, punk, rock 'n' roll and even ska, one thing about the Lazzies is that they never seem to play the same set twice and you'll always hear something different from this lot. If you've never seen them they're well worth a viewing.

And keeping with The Griffin for a moment there's a great triple bill of local bands kicking off at 6pm on Sunday evening with Filthy Tricks, A Million Birds and local hard rock band Serratone. I know a few of my

contacts out there in Glasstown have been raving over Serratone and A Million Birds over the past 12 months, so if you're around Earlestown on Sunday evening call in and see three great bands absolutely free.

Tank Bar in Westfield Street is also at it again this week with The Adrian Gautrey band on Thursday evening kicking off at 9.30pm.

And on Sunday is the monthly poetry and original music evening presented by Izzy Sowley and that kicks off at 8pm.

Over at the Rendezvous, Greg Davies and the Mad Hatters will be doing their usual Thursday night open mic night. All standards of musicians are welcome to come and enjoy the fun and the evening starts at about 9pm. On Friday, the venue presents another great out of town band, Roadhog who bring their brand of rock covers to St Helens for the first time in a good while. Over at Glasstown towers our spies in the field tell us if you like your rock music you'll love Roadhog. They will be giving it the full live and loud bit starting at 10pm.
