I SPENT several hours at the Brasstastic event in Victoria Park enjoying a lovely atmosphere and some excellent music.
Well done to all the bands involved and the organisers.
Wouldn’t it be great if we could see more events in our parks throughout the years? Certainly we could see more musical events centred around the band stand.
But what about other parks too – and I’m not talking about fun fairs.
Sherdley Park has just staged the giant Reminisce Festival, a private event that appeals to music fans.
But what about events that are family-friendly?
Is there even an events programme for Sherdley, which I’d say is the biggest park?
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I’d imagine the Reminisce organisers pay a fee for taking up a large section of the park for more than a week?
Could that revenue not be reinvested into the park for some family-friendly events that those living close by could enjoy.
I would be interested to know what others think.
