Kevin Finney writes: “Hi Chris, You’ve come up trumps again. For years I’ve seen and read articles about Salisbury Street and around the Raven. I have even put up notes myself about the string of premises in Salisbury Street.
“One of my regular journeys was from Bridge Street round by the open market stalls, past the sorting office, abattoir and then right past the Salvation Army. You could pop in there for a meal. Then it was past the Lodging House, a penny or two to lean on the string/rope tied across a room.
"Then, and this is where you've come up trumps, I remember always passing a workshop and clearly remember seeing dodgem cars being fixed, then to the newspaper shop. I don't ever remember anyone being able to pick up the workshop details.
"Then today you come up with not only an article but a photo. That's another mystery now crossed off and solved. Still no news though about the café at the bottom of Parr Street? Still I live in hope.”
