A couple of weeks ago I related how Keith Jones from Earlestown had contacted me to say he had a book, My kind of Rugby by Ray French with an inscription in it that it had been presented to John B Hodgson at Geoff Pimblett's testimonial dinner in 1980.
I’d like Keith to get in touch with me again, as I have mislaid his contact details, because Mr Hodgson’s son has been in touch with me and would be interested in obtaining the book.
He said: “John B Hodgson was my dad. He unfortunately passed away in December 2012. I remember the event in 1980 as he always talked about it. Geoff Pimblett and Kel Coslett were very good friends of my parents in those days.
“My dad did indeed play cricket for St Helens CC and did so well into his 50s and even 60s. His son David Hodgson carried on the tradition becoming a fine cricketer himself. It would be great if we could have the book in our family once again.”
