Getting a dog is a big decision, as they say a dog is for life not just for Christmas!  I was lucky enough to get a puppy for Christmas which got me wondering why my family had chosen a Maltipoo as our first family pet.

A Maltipoo is a mix between a Maltese and a Poodle. They are small in size, very cute and are very friendly, almost like a teddy bear, making them a popular breed.  Maltipoos tend not to shed their fur very much either so they appeal to people who have allergies or just don’t want to have dog hair all over their clothes or their house.

We did some research and found that one reason Maltipoos are a brilliant breed is because they are very loving. They love to be around people and will follow you round just to be near you. However, my puppy follows me around to try and get a sneaky treat!  But if you are ever feeling sad a Maltipoo will curl up right next to you on the couch and make everything seem better.

Maltipoos are a small breed making them perfect if you don’t have a massive garden or a big house. However, the most important thing is to make sure they get exercise and lots of attention.

Maltipoos are quite intelligent (this is said because of their Poodle side) as they learn things quickly. My Maltipoo is only 10 weeks old yet has already learnt to sit and stay.

But having any dog is a big commitment so make sure you do your research, realise the time and energy you need for a dog and give them lots of love and attention.

Overall, Maltipoos are a great breed because they are loving, smart, small, cute and make amazing companions.  A Maltipoo is a great choice if you want a dog who will become your best friend forever.
