Recently, St Edmund Arrowsmith, a local school in Ashton in Makerfield, put on a production of the Disney musical High School Musical and it was brilliant! The production ran from the 13th of October to the 15th of October, and I got the pleasure to watch it myself.

The cast of students put on an outstanding show which showcased the incredible talent that the school has to offer.

The two leads: Trinity Izokun and Zac Fletcher were both incredible and sang their hearts out- a great Gabriella and Troy. The other named characters such as; Chad, Mrs Darbus, Coach Bolton and Sharpay also gave it their all and really helped captivate the audience.

Not only them but the supporting cast were also excellent all singing, acting and dancing their absolute best.

Every line was delivered with passion, and every song was worthy of an award and when it was over the crowd’s applause and cheers echoed around the room showing how good the performance was.

One of the performers- Matthew Maguire, who played Coach Bolton told me that he “absolutely loved doing High School Musical” and then said “It’s definitely the most fun I’ve had so far from my secondary school experience. The show went really well, and I’ve met some amazing people that are now very close friends of mine”. He also said that he’s “gutted it’s over”.

The success of the show is much to credit of the incredible drama department of the school with Miss Carol, Mr Cooper and Mrs Melling who helped with the beginning stages. The show couldn’t go on without them and their guidance.

Not only them but a thanks is owed to the crew behind the scenes who kept the show running and the art department who made the incredible set, which really brought the world to life.

The show was exhilarating, flamboyant, funny and overall a worth-while watch. The effort and dedication that went into the final show was obvious to all the people who showed up to watch this excellent performance.

Would I recommended the show? You can bet on it! And I can’t wait to see what they come up with next.
