As Halloween draws near, thrill seekers from all over the northwest come to Chorley for one of the area's most exciting and frightening attractions of the season: Scare City Experience. It's at the abandoned Camelot Theme Park, turning the old theme park into a world of horror, suspense and the unexpected.

Scare City is far more than just some haunted houses. It's an immersive horror trail taking visitors through Cutthroat & Co, the Skinning Shed, The Settlement, The Devil’s Orphanage and many more terrifying scare zones. The whole thing is a very atmospheric experience with lighting, fog, sound and live actors all working in unison to keep thrill seekers in a state of constant fear throughout.

The ruins of Camelot Theme Park provide the ideal setting for a night of terror with the overgrown paths creating a very real sense of dread. As you walk through the attraction, you're confronted with a host of scary characters (clowns, monsters, creepy children) and scenarios that will bring your nightmares to life. You're just starting to get into the swing of things when suddenly a scare actor with a chainsaw will start running at you.

Scare City isn't all about the fear though. It's also a great social occasion and is very much in demand with groups of friends, couples and families with older teens. Alejandra Garcia, a teenager who experienced Scary City, said "This was a phenomenal experience, a really exciting evening. I went with my family and a close friend, and speaking for all of us, it was very scary. The scare actors are amazing at their job, and everything is constructed to suit the horror theme. They managed our health and safety while giving us an amazing night. We all had a laugh and jumped a lot. I would recommend!"

There's a lot of fun to be had in the shared screams, the nervous laughter and the sheer unpredictability of what you'll encounter. There's also a refreshment area along the trail with a very musical environment so you can take a break if you like before you carry on into the dark.

For those of you that may be planning to go it's worth bearing in mind that it's largely an outdoor event so warm waterproof clothing and appropriate footwear are a must. There's a lot of walking involved, and the experience can take anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours. It's primarily an event for people aged 16 and over, though 14- and 15-year-olds can go if they're under adult supervision. It’s fantastic fun for family and friends alike!

Scare City is very much the thing to do in Lancashire when it comes to Halloween. It's a real standout with its use of an abandoned site, the horror scenes and the live entertainment. It's a truly memorable experience for anyone who dares to go. If you're a horror fan or just looking for something different to do this Halloween, then Scare City Chorley is definitely worth a go. You're going to get your fair share of frights, screams and memories to take away with you and at the end of the experience you can collect the videos of your screams to relive the horror at home.
