A Muddy Mission to Make a Difference
On Sunday 11th October, Mr Valentine, a teacher at St. Edmund Arrowsmith, took part in Tough Mudder to help fund improvements to Newton-Le-Willows Sea Cadets' facilities.
Tough Mudder is an event where you run through mud and obstacles. The event is marketed as a challenge and a test of teamwork. Many charities use it to raise money because it shows dedication and commitment to the cause they’re fundraising for.
Tough Mudder is a community of individuals who have a commitment to overcoming challenges and creates some intense and unique courses to test physical strength, mental grit and teamwork.
Mr Valentine is a Cadet Force Adult Volunteer (CFAV) for Newton-Le-Willows Sea Cadets. Sea Cadets is a charity and receives no funding from the Ministry of Defence (MoD).
“Myself and the team wanted to raise money to help buy some equipment for our young people and help improve some of our classrooms, which unfortunately have a mould problem.”
Newton-Le-Willows Sea Cadets, like all Sea Cadets Units, is a charity and only stays open through constant fundraising and donations.
The timing of this event was also very convenient as it was also the last day of the first ever National Cadet Week, which spanned from 5th October till 11th October.
The following link is where you can go to donate to the cause. So far they have raised £225 of the £600.
