The Great Walk of China: How the Steve Prescott Foundation raised over £50,000 for charity
For roughly 5 days, a group of 14 fundraisers set out on the gruelling task of traversing the entire 21,196 km (13,170 miles) of the Great Wall of China.
The Steve Prescott Foundation raised a total of £55,000 thanks to this endeavour.
Ran by the Chairman of the Charity, Adrian Cunliffe, the group flew out from Manchester Airport for the 10-12 hour flight, embarking on their mission for the week.
The Charity raise money for the Christie Hospital Charity, which specialises in Cancer Research and Treatment, and the Rugby League Benevolent Fund, who support former Rugby players.
History of the group
Established in the August of 2007 by the former Rugby player, Steve Prescott, the charity has been supporting many people for over 18 years.
Steve Prescott founded the charity after he himself was diagnosed with cancer.
His dedication to the charity was amazing, although he unfortunately succumbed to cancer in 2013.
The charity still lives on to this day, remembering the idealisms that it was built upon.
The Charity has pulled many stunts in his name, like when they Trekked the Grand Canyon in 2019 raising over £378,000 for the selected charities.
Or, when they climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and raised more than £170,000 in 2015.
Their next endeavour is in 2026, where they will attempt to climb the tallest mountain in the world, Mount Everest.
