Newton-le–Willows Football Club is a large community filled with lovely people. The club was awarded the King’s Award for Voluntary Service, which is the highest honour given to volunteer groups in the UK. It recognises outstanding work that benefits local communities.

Newton-le-Willows Crocodiles under 15s is a girls' football team that plays in division 1 in the Warrington league.

This Newton girls team began around 8years ago and a few of the girls from that time continue to play for them but only a small majority.

Also, a few years ago there was too many girls causing the team to split into two teams: the crocodiles and the alligators (now known as newton athletic).

Over the years the team has had many girls leave and many girls join. The Newton team today is not the same team as it was 3 years ago.

Nonetheless, this has not affected the girls in any way. They remain dedicated and loving to all teammates.

The Newton Crocodiles team is a wonderful team to be a part of. Every member of the team is kind, friendly, and respectful. Every game, training session or even just hanging out with them is a blast.

During the 2023-24 season, the crocodiles placed fifth in the league with 15 wins, 6 draws, and only 5 losses. At this time, they played 9-a-side games.

During that season, the crocodiles mastered their formations and plays. They found ways that worked for everyone and became a strong team.

However, things took a turn during the 2024-25 season when they moved to 11-a-side games. That season they had only 6 wins and finished ninth in the league.

After such a successful season it was very challenging for the girls and moral was low.

Their bad luck has carried on this season. Unfortunately, the crocodiles find themselves in a small rut of losing continuously.

So far this season they have lost 7 out of 9 games, with 1 draw and 1 win.

Losing all the time can be very frustrating and difficult, but every member of the team works their hardest to get newton back to its glory days.

Lots of teams have rough seasons but they stick it out and come out the other end a better team.

“Work hard and results will come.” - words from club representative Tom Cunningham.

The key to success is effort, hard-work and determination.

Every member of the crocodiles has all those attributes it is just unfortunate results every game.

Their games show real improvement and it’s clear that all the girls are working hard to improve not just for the team but for themselves.

Losing so many games can be extremely hard mentally as everyone gets angry, negative and the football environment can become insufferable.

Some people quit; some people endure it.

For the crocs they choose to endure it.

They work harder ever week taking a loss as just another learning opportunity. The girls put in the work and the dedication and soon enough the wins will start rolling in.

All that’s left now is to wait and see if The Newton Crocodiles can really win back their title.
