With the incident taking place at around 3pm, officers are reported to have found the weapon used during the attack outside an address on Burnell Close.

A police cordon was also put in place and following further inquiries, officers believe that other people, including children, were in the area and witnessed the incident, with some recording it on their mobile phones.

The police are now appealing to anyone who saw the incident or has footage to contact the Force and assist their investigation.

Detective Inspector Steve Byrom said: “This was a shocking incident that happened in front of passers-by, including children, who may have witnessed the disturbance.

“If you were in the area and witnessed the incident or recorded footage, please let us know.

“Similarly, if you live in the area or were driving past, please check your CCTV or dashcam footage in case you captured anything significant.”
