THE council has reassured residents that incidents such as the shocking double stabbing on Four Acre Lane are rare occasions.

As reported by the Star, officers were called at around 5am today, (Thursday, March 28) following reports a man in his 30s had been assaulted on Four Acre Lane and suffered stab wounds to his shoulder and hands.

A short time later officers were notified that a second man, also in his 30s, was at a house in a neighbouring street with stab wounds to the chest and back.

Both men were taken by ambulance to hospital where they are said to be in a "stable condition", and an investigation was immediately launched with house-to-house, CCTV, and witness enquiries.

A large police cordon was also enforced on Four Acre Lane, with the road closure affecting traffic and causing bus diversions.
