THE closing date of St Helens' Wilko shop has been confirmed.
The Star reported after a last-ditch rescue bid for the retail chain collapsed.
The news came after PwC, which was appointed to oversee the insolvency after Wilko fell into administration, failed to secure a rescue deal for the whole business.
A last-ditch bid by the owner of HMV was thought to save the business, but this has also collapsed.
Earlestown's Wilko store is closing its doors for the final time today, Tuesday, September 19.
Meanwhile, St Helens town centre's Wilko is to shut its doors on Friday, September 29, it has today been confirmed.

Administrators said on Tuesday that 111 more stores across the country will serve customers for a final time next week.
The firm will close 37 stores after trading on Monday September 25, a further 37 on Wednesday September 27 and another 37 on Friday September 29, including the Cotham Street shop in St Helens.
PwC has already agreed a roughly £13 million deal to sell up to 51 Wilko stores to rival B&M, while fellow discount retailer Poundland has been in talks in an attempt to snap up around 100 shops.
