POLICE were called over reports youths were walking across a railway line.
Police received a report from a train driver relating to youths crossing the railway line near to Whiston Train Station this afternoon, Monday.
It is believed the youths were as young as eight or nine.
Police fired a warning to urge parents to educate their children over the dangers of playing or crossing on the railway.

In a statement, Merseyside Police said: "Officers have assisted colleagues from the British Transport Police this afternoon following a report from a train driver of youths crossing the railway line near to Whiston Train Station. The youths are believed to be aged approximately eight or nine years old.
"Please can we request that parents and guardians talk to your children, particularly in the local area and educate them about the dangers of playing on or crossing the railway. This section of railway is not only used by commuter trains travelling very fast but also by larger goods trains."
