POLICE say they clocked more than 900 speeding drivers in St Helens in an eight-day period.
Officers from Merseyside Police's Roads Policing Unit say they conducted speed enforcement checks in the St Helens area recently.
Police say they reported a total of 941 drivers in relation to speeding offences over eight days.
These included one travelling at 73mph in a 40mph speed limit area, and another driving at 52mph in a 30mph zone.

In a statement, police said: "In recent weeks we have conducted speed enforcement in StHelens area, reporting a total of 941 drivers for speeding offences over an 8-day period!
"Highest recorded speeds included 73 in a 40 and 52 in a 30."
They added: "Speed alone is a major contributory factor in killed or seriously injured collisions across Merseyside.
"We will continue this enforcement across the whole force to reduce speeds and more importantly, those killed or injured on our roads."
