FIREFIGHTERS attended to extinguish a blaze at a house this morning, Friday.

Crews were called to a property on Scholes Lane, Portico, shortly after 11am today, March 17.

The house kitchen and a car port were involved in the fire, which crews put out using a hose reel jet.

A Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service (MFRS) spokeswoman said: "MFRS was called to Scholes Lane, St Helens, on Friday, March 17.

"Crews were alerted at 11.02am and on scene at 11.09am. Two fire engines attended.

"On arrival crews found a fire in a two storey property – the kitchen and car port were involved in fire.

"Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to tackle the fire, with the main body of the fire extinguished by 11.21am.

"Crews checked for any hot spots before leaving the scene at 12.38pm."
