A WOMAN is in a critical condition following an alleged assault on Mathew Street in Liverpool City Centre.

It has been reported that a woman was assaulted by another woman on Mathew Street in the early hours of Thursday, February 16.

The victim, in her 20s, is said to be in the hospital in a critical condition after suffering a serious head injury.

Following enquiries, police believe the woman’s injury in this incident was caused following a fall.

However, a 24-year-year-old woman has now been arrested on suspicion of assault.

She has since been released on conditional bail pending further enquiries.

Police are now appealing for information and witnesses as they investigate the incident.
