A MEMORIAL game for a beloved man who died in tragic circumstances will take place at the ground of his former rugby club this weekend.

Kieran Naylor and his fiancée Rebecca Foster both passed away after a fire broke out in the early hours of their home in Daresbury, on Monday, December 13, 2022.

The couple were rushed to Whiston Hospital in a critical condition, where Rebecca died from her injuries the following day.

After two weeks in hospital, Kieran also passed away on Monday, December 26.

Following the tragic incident, hundreds of tributes flooded in for the "perfect couple", from friends, family, colleagues, and those who knew them.

As Kie played for Blackbrook in 2016, the rugby club also offered their sympathies and said he was one of "life's nice guys" who made a lasting impression on everyone at the club.

After also playing at Bank Quay Bulls in Warrington, the two clubs have come together to organise a memorial game for the much-loved thirty-three-year-old.

This will take place at Blackbrook's home ground on Boardman's Lane, kicking off at 1pm on Sunday, February 19.

Kieran's friend Scott Davidson has helped to set up the memorial game.

He said: "As a player, Kie was a hard-hitting workhorse who was willing to play in any position the team needed him to and do it well.

"As a man, he was hard-working, determined, strong, kind, caring, and an all-round nice lad that I shared some great memories with both at Bank Quay bulls and Blackbrook."

As well as the first team game, there will also be a Blackbrook under 12s game on Sunday, and a raffle with some great prizes on offer such as signed memorabilia.

Donations are asked upon entry, which all will go towards a charity of Keiran's dad's choice.
