A BAR and coffee shop in Newton-le-Willows went above and beyond to ensure the team at a suicide prevention organisation had their Christmas party.

The Riddling Rack on Newton High Street had to close over the weekend due to a water outage in the area, however, the team at Papyrus, a young suicide prevention organisation based in Warrington, were meant to have their well deserved Christmas do at the wine bar.

Despite being devastated to have to cancel the event, the staff at Riddling Rack were determined to give the workers at Papyrus, who had arranged for staff from other call centres across the UK to keep their service open, a festive celebration.

Alexandra Myhill, owner at the Riddling Rack, said: "We were devastated that we had to cancel Papyrus’ Christmas party due to a water outage in the area; it was completely out of our control.

"The least we could do was take their grazing platters and some alcohol free fizz to their offices the next day and issue a full refund. The work they do on the prevention of young suicide is amazing.

"If anyone is thinking of donating to a charity at Christmas we would encourage them to think about Papyrus."
