A TOWN centre pub which has been closed since before the COVID-19 pandemic and was listed for sale is expected to reopen under a new identity.
Punch Tarmey’s, on Westfield Street, shut in early 2020 and had been placed on the property market by owners The Mikhail Leisure Group.
The building, which was previously the Zoo Bar, has not sold, however, it is understood a businessman has secured a lease on the premises and plans to reopen it.
Adverts placed on the former Irish bar, state that it will become a club, bar and restaurant known as the Circus. Further details have not been released at this stage.

Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group owner Andrew Mikhail invested £500,000 in Punch Tarmey’s in 2017 but subsequently became disillusioned with the pace of progress of regeneration in St Helens town centre and has since pumped money into new projects in Southport.
