Police issued a warning that children gathering is a breach of coronavirus measures and may risk spread of the disease to other family members.

In a Facebook post, Knowsley Police said: "Local Policing patrols are continuing to patrol the area of Prescot Leisure Centre owing to complaints from the community that youths are accessing the pitches to play football.

"If you are a parent, please know where your children are at all times.

"Your children can still spread the virus amongst themselves and then take this home - which may then spread to other family members.

"Merseyside Police continue to work with our partners to address this issue."
