THE first Beatles record to ever be played on the radio is going up for sale today in Newton-le-Willows - and is expected to be bought for up to £20,000.
The signed record is among more than 200 items going under the hammer at Omega Auctions today (Tuesday).
The record even includes a misspelling of Sir Paul McCartney's name as McArtney.
Released in 1962, Love Me Do was the debut single by the Liverpudlian band.
Sir Paul is said to have penned the song while truanting from school as a teenager.
Radio Luxembourg was first to play the track - and any Beatles record - on October 5, 1962.
More than 200 items are up for sale
One of the station's former DJs, Tony Prince, is auctioning the memorabilia items, including the coveted record.
There are 219 items up for sale at the Newton-le-Willows auction house today.
Love Me Do featured vocals of Sir Paul and John Lennon. However, record label EMI printed Lennon-McArtney on the record.
Omega Auctions have described the record as "an incredible piece of music history".
Love Me Do peaked at number 17 in the UK charts but later reached number one in the US following its release across the pond in 1964.
