POLICE say they were called to allegations a man making threats with a knife in St Helens yesterday afternoon – although a later search of a suspect found no weapons. (Monday, May 13).
Witnesses reported seeing a police presence on Westfield Street on Monday afternoon, which led to a flurry of posts on social media.

In a Merseyside Police statement, officers confirmed they received reports at around 3.45pm of a man making threats with a knife on Kirkland Street, St Helens.
Officers attended and a man was located and searched on Westfield Street.
Police say the search proved to be negative and no further action was taken.
