WHEN we listen to the election campaign, we’re told people cannot afford to live with all the rising prices.
What’s happening? They cannot feed their families or afford a mortgage, rent or fuel bills, we are taxed to the hilt, councils are facing bankruptcy and there are no police on the streets, we have no spare money at all...
Yet when we have sporting events or pop concerts, suddenly there is money for the fans to pay for travel, tickets, accommodation and memorabilia.
Plus plenty of police to supervise the event and control the crowds. We are even sending them abroad to help out.
I am not saying that people should not relax and enjoy themselves - but what is the truth about the state of this country and the financial situation?
