REGARDING the sad news of St Helens Chamber’s sudden closure.
I would highlight this line from their statement on going into administration: “Added to that, the move from EU funding streams to the government’s Shared Prosperity Fund had also hampered us, with significant impacts on both cashflow and profitability.”
Glad to see us now reaping the benefits of these Brexit bonuses.
So, not only have our children lost out on the right to study, start a business, live or work in the EU, but now due to the government’s inadequacy to replace EU funding, it’s cost jobs and training opportunities here. Shared prosperity fund? Not if you live in the North it seems.
The Chamber served a vital function for the town, what a terrible shame.
I hope our MPs raise it in Parliament.
