ST HELENS Council say we can’t have a single co-mingled recycling bin because of contamination.
That is rubbish.
The issue was looked at decades ago by various local authorities and in many cases they reverted from multiple bins back to a single co-mingled bin.
I suspect unions and money are the reason. Not enough automated sorting and too many protected jobs.
Let’s have a single bin, collected by automated single-manned trucks.
