I AM looking for any information and possible direct descendants of Albert Victor Hambling, born 1906, a resident of St Helens.
Around 1920, he wrote a letter to the king of England, begging him to convince Sir Ernest Shackleton to take him on his upcoming expedition.
I have researched the letter and identified this young boy as the sender.
All available records show that he was resident in St Helens almost all his life.
I am giving a talk about this at a conference in Ireland on October 21 (shackletonmuseum.com/autumn-school) and would love to be able to find any direct family.
Albert Victor had a son named Gordon Hambling who died in 1992.
Could anyone please help me?
Please contact me on sstromsvag@explorers.org with any information.
