REGARDING the town centre anti-social behaviour.
It’s going to take years to undo the ‘turn a blind eye’ approach which has happened over the last 20 years or so.
The town has not turned into anti-social mayhem overnight – it’s been allowed to happen over a very prolonged period.
The reason everything has gone downhill will be complicated, but all added together has proven massively detrimental to the town.
A lack of funding for the police, as well as the police unbelievably turning a blind eye to actually applying every aspect of the law to the max, loss of jobs and industry in the area, the rise of drug use, loss of funding for those in life that genuinely need a helping hand – the list is endless!
One thing is for sure, you can’t undo years of social corrosion with only a short blast trying to fix it.
It’s going to take years worth of momentum to turn around and make good again.
The town centre and many parks have become no-go zones in some cases – there is nothing about that which is acceptable!
