ONE of the council cabinet members was quoted in the Star discussing the amount of money car parking raises for the council purse.

The council is so short-sighted they don’t see the sheer volume of money they have lost to Widnes for one. Widnes for shopping was almost a dormitory town to St Helens until the nineties.

We really are deluded as far as shopping goes.

Create a fit for purpose bus station and free car parking.

Then replicate Widnes and Leigh and create a respectable market within Church Street incorporating Woolies and Marks former outlets and do it right.

The town centre manager works hard, but he is like a bricklayer without a trowel.
