THE children and team of Derwent Road Playgroup and the church elders of Haresfinch UR Church would like to give a heartfelt thank you to our wonderful Moss Bank councillors Trisha Long and Tracey Dickson for retaining one very special poppy for us to install on the lamppost outside our beautiful church hall in Haresfinch.

A special thank you also to Richard Mercer who proudly served as a sergeant in the Royal Engineers who visited the playgroup (as he does every year) to talk to the children about why we wear our poppies with pride on Remembrance Day.

We thank him for all he does and for his service for the veterans in our community, along with Councillor Lynn Clarke, our Armed Forces Champion, for making this such a special event.

The lovely poppies are a daily reminder of our gratitude to the brave soldiers of the Armed Forces who sacrificed so much for our own freedom.
