MAYBE one solution to the Brexit-induced shortage of lorry drivers would be to take on and train more women for the job.

And anyone who thinks we’re not up to handling lorries should remember the role women played in both world wars.

But then all that changed and it became so unusual to have a woman in the cab that the Star ran a special feature on one lass who was I think from Haydock.

I can also think of another local lady farmer who regularly steered a big artic down the M6 to Birmingham daily.

So come on haulage bosses... give the girls a chance.
