IT is interesting to note that the planning proposal to erect a 15 metre-high telephone mast and three equipment boxes in the centre of Rainford’s shopping area has been published, unheralded, during peak holiday season.

With a two-week limit to lodge objections, many residents will be unaware of this proposal.

Its impact, in an area currently furnished with benches and beautiful flower beds maintained by Rainford in Bloom volunteers, will be significant.

Two local shops are giving us the chance to object by petition and this can also be done through the St Helens Planning website.

Rainford residents – please don’t delay – or developers will ruin what has become a popular place to meet, rest and reflect in the middle of our village.
