THIS poem, titled Blossoms in the Dust, has been written and sent to the Star by 94-year-old G Kearns.

It is in memory of children who have died, including a child of her own who died years ago.

Little Rose buds about to open
Their bright petal to the wind
but were caught up in its swirling tide
upwards to heaven they did fly
and those left behind who loved them so wondered why.
Bouquets of love they gave us
their fragrance lingers still
in memory of little things they did words they said
things that will never go away
so many memories we hold in trust
of little rose buds plucked too soon
little blossoms in the dust
